New Regional Growth Fund announced - 3 November 2010

The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) is a £1.4bn 3 year Fund, provided by DBIS, that will operate across England to stimulate private sector led sustainable economic growth and employment.

The Regional Growth Fund is designd to stimulate enterprise by providing support for projects and programmes with significant potential for creating long term private sector led economic growth and employment, particularly in areas and communities that are currently dependent on the public sector make the transition to sustainable private sector-led growth and prosperity.

The fund is open to private bodies and public private partnerships across England, including a combination of large private sector organisations, Small-Medium Enterprises and public sector bodies. In particular it is expected that Local Enterprise Partnerships will play a role in coordinating across areas and communities, and in bidding for the Fund

Round 1 of the bidding is now open with a closing date of 21 January 2011. The second round will be announced shortly and it is planned that there will be at least three rounds of bidding. The minimum level of bid accepted under this fund will be £1 million per organisation.
