Future Jobs Fund will not re-open - 24 May 2010

As a result of the Government’s May 24 2010 announcement on Cross-Government Efficiency Savings, Ministers have decided that no further bids to the Future Jobs Fund will be approved for funding.

The Future Jobs Fund was created in 2009 in the wake of the recession to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the labour market across the UK. Innovative

Although this decision affects new bids and those in the pipeline, Ministers have also decided that all commitments already made, including those delayed during the pre-election period, will be met. For all organisations in receipt of grants it will be “business as usual”.

Some scope may remain for unsuccessful bidders to help create jobs through already successful Future Jobs Fund partnerships in their area. Organisations who are in a position to do this should contact the successful bidders to see how they might be able to become involved.

The Government have announced a 'Work Programme' to tackle unemployment under which new grant funding may become available.
