Consultation launched to decide future of Compact – Thursday 7 August 2008

The Commission for the Compact has officially launched a consultation about the future of the Compact.

The three-month consultation includes 22 questions on how the Compact - the voluntary agreement that sets out how charities and public bodies should treat each other - should be changed to serve its purpose best.

Questions include:

  • should the agreement have statutory force?
  • should the commission be made a statutory body?
  • should the commissioner be given powers to investigate alleged Compact breaches?

The commission's consultation will run until 10 November and responses and views should be sent to debate@thecompact.org.uk (opens new window).

The commission's discussion paper is available to view on the Compact website (opens new window).
