Taskforce launched for third sector welfare reforms – Thursday 5 June 2008

Stronger third sector involvement in delivering the government's radical welfare to work reforms has been called for as a new 'third sector' taskforce has been set up.

Announced by James Purnell, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations, the new taskforce is further acknowledgement of government programmes such as Pathways to Work - delivered by a mix of private and voluntary sector organisations - designed to help the long-term sick and disabled people into work. Pathways to Work programmes are now available in every region across Britain.

The taskforce will hold its first meeting on 17 June 2008.
