NGOs get £20m extra DfID funding – Friday 25 April 2008

The Department for International Development (DfID) has announced £10m in extra funding for both the Governance and Transpareny and Civil Society Challenge funds.

The Governance and Transparency Fund, set up to help citizens hold their governments and other bodies to account, will now have a total value of £130m over five years to support the 38 successful proposals in the recent funding round.

There will also be an additional £10m over three years for the Civil Society Challenge Fund, DfID’s fund for small and medium-sized UK-based civil society organisations, raising its value to £20m a year by 2010/11.
