Capacitybuilders should not be the 'voice of the sector', says NCVO - March 2007

The NCVO has accused Capacitybuilders of trying to compete with the very infrastructure services it is looking to set up and fund under the ChangeUp programme.

In its submission responding to Capacitybuilders’ Destination 2014 strategy paper, the NCVO has attacked the draft strategy as too wide-ranging, and said Capacitybuilders seemed too concerned with “acting as a voice for the voluntary and community sector”.

At the same time, the Directory of Social Change has condemned what it describes as “an apparent stitch-up” on the future of ChangeUp, prompted by a report on Charity News Alert two weeks ago revealing the NCVO’s intention to tender to run all but one of the new National Support Services that Capacitybuilders is to fund from April next year.
