Funding news

Youth Opportunity Fund and Youth Capital Fund launched - Thursday 18 May 2006

Guidance notes for the new Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF) and Youth Capital Fund (YCF) have been published.

The funds will support positive activities which foster the personal and social development of young people and give them the opportunity to enjoy sport and recreational activities. The aim is to empower young people and to give them more choice and influence over provision and facilities in their area.

A total of £115 million over two years has been provided (£62 million for the YOF and £53 million for the YCF). A range of activities and projects can be funded as long as they fall under the Every Child Matters priorities. The funds will be managed by Local Authorities on behalf of young people, who will be involved in determining how the funds are spent. Accordingly the management of the funds may take different forms in different areas.
