PM to work with sector on public service plan - Wednesday, February 01 2006

Tony Blair has pledged to work with the voluntary sector on "an action plan for change" over the sector's delivery of public services. The commitment came before a meeting between the Prime Minister and a delegation from chief executives body Acevo this week.

Acevo regards the meeting as a breakthrough in its drive to remove obstacles to a greater sector contribution to public service provision.

Stephen Bubb, chief executive of Acevo, said he would be making the case for longer contracts for the sector, which could bring more access to private capital.
