£146,000 for parish planning in the East of England, local communities encouraged to apply now for funding - Monday, 9 January 2006

Defra has made a further £146,000 available to local communities in the East of England to give people more control over their own affairs and get their voices heard by decision makers.

The funding is available until 31 March 2006 and Defra is encouraging people from rural communities across the region to apply now for a grant to help create a their own plan.

Town or Parish Councils can apply for grant of up to £2,500 to produce a parish plan. The money is available as an up-front payment and is delivered through Bedfordshire Rural Affairs Forum working with Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity - organisations well placed to respond to local people.
