The Redcar and Cleveland Borough council administers two funding programmes available to local voluntary or community groups.

Your Offer Small Grant Scheme (YOYO)

The council has fund available to support activities, projects and initiatives delivered by voluntary and community groups, which focus on young people aged between 8 to 18 years, living in Redcar and Cleveland. Please note that applicants canot apply for more than £2,000.

For further information, please visit the council's website or contact Richard Gerrard at Richard.gerrard@redcar-clevelad.gov.uk

Redcar and Cleveland Community Health Fund

The council will award grants betweem £300 and £1,000 to local initiatives that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of local residents age 20 +. Particular attention will be given to projects that focus on helping the most vulnerable and isolated people of the community.

It is highly recommended that applicants contact Development Officer before starting any application process.

Note that round five for applications is now closed. Please check the council's website or the Recar and Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency for future application deadlines.

External Funding

The council provides a list of various external funding opportunities available to local voluntary organisations.

Local organisation can also obtain support and advice through contacting the Voluntary Sector Team at volunteering@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk.

Many local authorities are now moving away from grant-making and beginning to use commissioning as a way to distribute funding to the third sector. Local commissioners can be difficult to find and identify, however NAVCA have created a guide that may help: 'Finding your commissioner'

Useful organisations:

Redcar and Cleveland Volunteer Development Agency: www.rcvda.org.uk

There is no voluntary sector unit or team with Redcar and Cleveland Council, and any voluntary sector funding appears to be devolved to different departments; the only department currently running a grant programme is Sports Development.

Very small amounts of funding have previously been administered to community-based arts projects from the Arts Development Team, however this funding has recently ceased due to financial constraints.

Whilst the number of grant schemes available from this council are fairly small, it is worth noting that the information provided on them is comprehensive and has been updated consistently since the beginning of our research in January 2009.

What is the DSC Funder Rating?

We need your help

Our ratings are by no means a final verdict, just a starting point to begin discussions about the voluntary sector’s experience of government funders. We are inviting all subscribers to share their experiences and contribute to the DSC Funder Rating. If you can help, please email us at ratings@governmentfunding.org.uk
