Schemes:

Stoke-on-Trent Council administers one grant schemes named the "Grants For Community Learning".

Grants for Community Learning is offered through the City Council and the Skills Funding Agency. The aim of the funding is to support local voluntary and community sector organisations to develop and deliver learning opportunities for local residents. Funding is also to support capacity building within third sector organisations.

This funding is not a source of long term funding but should be seen as an opportunity to develop new and exciting learning projects to deliver within disadvantaged communities.

For further information please contact Kath Reynolds on 01782 232365 or email kath.reynolds@stoke.gov.uk

Many local authorities are now moving away from grant-making and beginning to use commissioning as a way to distribute funding to the third sector. Local commissioners can be difficult to find and identify, however NAVCA have created a guide that may help: 'Finding your Commissioner'

Useful organisations:

Voluntary Action Stoke

Stoke-on-Trent City Council provides two grant schemes for voluntary organisations, however both are funded by Central/European Government and can not really be classed as small grant programmes.

The information available on these schemes is all up-to-date and complete, however there is no central unit that deals with funding for voluntary sector groups, so the information was fairly difficult to find within the website.

A Voluntary and Community Sector homepage is however available, which now has a link to the ESF grants page, as well as information on the local compact.

What is the DSC Funder Rating?

We need your help

Our ratings are by no means a final verdict, just a starting point to begin discussions about the voluntary sector’s experience of government funders. We are inviting all subscribers to share their experiences and contribute to the DSC Funder Rating. If you can help, please email us at ratings@governmentfunding.org.uk.
