The Community Chest is designed to provide support for 'one-off', pilot or pump-priming projects of benefit to local communities. It provides support for local groups meeting local priorities.

Over £10,000 per Ward is available and projects should range between £100 and £10,000. The fund is easily accessible and you should contact your local Councillor for the application forms. All applications submitted go forward for consideration to panels of local Ward Councillors and, thereafter, to the Council's Area Committees for a final decision on support.

For more information, please visit the council's website or contact the Scrutinity and Area Arrangements Team.

Many local authorities are now moving away from grant-making and beginning to use commissioning as a way to distribute funding to the third sector. Local commissioners can be difficult to find and identify, however NAVCA have created a guide that may help: 'Finding your Commissioner'
