Many local authorities are now moving away from grant-making and beginning to use commissioning as a way to distribute funding to the third sector. Local commissioners can be difficult to find and identify, however NAVCA have created a guide that may help: 'Finding Your Commissioner?'

Useful organisations:

Plymouth Guild provide support, advice and volunteers to voluntary sector groups in the area:

Funding from Plymouth City Council is devolved to different departments; the Arts Development Unit and the Sports Development Unit.

The Sports scheme is quite limited, offering small grants for training. However, there is detailed information at the dedicated webpage including comprehensive guidance. The Arts Grants are more general and the webpage is very helpful, with a newsletter you can sign up to and examples of successful projects.

There are no named contacts and no general grants for voluntary and community groups.
