Schemes:

The London Borough of Newham Council provides funding for the voluntary sector through a mixture of small grants schemes and commissioning-based strategic funding:

Aspers Good Causes Fund

The Aspers Good Causes Fund was set up in 2013 by Aspers Casino and Newham Council to support community projects which help residents to build confidence and skills and improve community life in Newham. Organisations can apply for both small grants up to £1,000 and largergrants up to £10,000.

Applications for the 2015 programme are closed now, however more information is available here.

Small Grants - 'Go for it Grants' and 'Royal Docks Trust LBN Grants'

The council also runs two small grants schemes; 'Go for it Grants' and 'Royal Docks Trust LBN Grants'.

'Go for it Grants' are small grants worth up to £2,000 per organisation for community based projects. Now, smaller grants of up to £1,000 are also awarded for s;all-term projects. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis and applications are assessed by a panel every eight weeks. More information on this fund can be found here.

The Royal Docks Trust LBN Grants are minor grants, up to £1500, which are available all the year round. The council administers the Royal Docks Trust grants programme and provides a quarter of the cost of the grants each year. Further information on this fund can be found on the council's website.

Let's Get the Party Started Fund

This community event fund awards minor grants up to £250 to event projects which aims at bringing people from different backgrounds together. Further guidance and elegibility details are available on the council's website.

Many local authorities are now moving away from grant-making and beginning to use commissioning as a way to distribute funding to the third sector. Local commissioners can be difficult to find and identify, however NAVCA have created a guide that may help: 'Finding your commissioner'

What is the DSC Funder Rating?

We need your help
