Schemes:

Waltham Forest Council has various funding streams that offer grants to local voluntary sector and community groups listed on its Voluntary Sector Grants page.

Few of these funds have been updated and we are awaiting further information from the council.

Small Grant Funding Rounds

The Council has made available £150,000 to local Waltham Forest organisations as part of the Voluntary Sector Small Grant Schemes.

There are two grant schemes available for local Voluntary and Community Sector organisations: Match-Funding, Volunteering Support. Full information is provided in each of the guidance documents below.

No information is available for the 2015/2016 session, so it is advised to contact Reginald Amoah on reginald.amoah@walthamforest.gov.uk or 020 8496 4168 for more information.

Match-Funding Grants

The Match-Funding Scheme assists organisations in obtaining funds from another funder. The funds can be spent on a range of projects but should fit the outcomes highlighted in the guidance. If successful, the Council will match an external funder's offer up to a maximum of £10,000.

Volunteering Support Grants

The Volunteering Support Scheme aims to enable better quality and more volunteer opportunities in the borough by assisting organisations with the costs of supporting volunteers. Funds can be used for a number of activities such as the volunteer coordinator's salary, obtaining accreditation in volunteering and volunteer expenses. Grants will be given up to a maximum of £5,000.

Further information about all grants featured and opening dates can be found here.

Many local authorities are now moving away from grant-making and beginning to use commissioning as a way to distribute funding to the third sector. Local commissioners can be difficult to find and identify, however NAVCA have created a guide that may help: 'Finding your Commissioner'

Useful organisations:

Waltham Forest Voluntary Action

Waltham Forest Council has a specific page dedicated to the voluntary sector on the council's website is clear and easy to understand, and includes contact details for the individual grant schemes. The page is clearly signposted under the Community and Living section.

What is the DSC Funder Rating?

We need your help

Our ratings are by no means a final verdict, just a starting point to begin discussions about the voluntary sector’s experience of government funders. We are inviting all subscribers to share their experiences and contribute to the DSC Funder Rating. If you can help, please email us at ratings@governmentfunding.org.uk
